MathGaps

For parents, tutors, and learners

Find out exactly where your child needs help in math

Math struggles are almost never about the current topic β€” they're about a gap from an earlier one. Take a photo of recent math work, and MathGaps scans it, finds those gaps, and builds the exact practice needed to close them.

How it works

πŸ“ΈStep 1

Snap a photo

Homework, a test, a worksheet β€” anything with their working-out shown.

πŸ”Step 2

See the gaps

AI reads their work and finds the misconceptions behind the mistakes β€” not just the wrong answers.

✏️Step 3

Practice what matters

Get a guide and targeted practice problems for each gap, with hints and independently checked answers.

See it run on real work

We put this graded 3-page algebra worksheet through MathGaps exactly as you see it. The report behind the button is the actual, unedited output β€” every problem it read, the misconceptions it found, and the two practice sets with study guides it built, answers verified by real computation.

Jordan's worksheet: 14 problems, 6 wrong β€” can you spot the two misconceptions behind all 6?

Built like a great tutor thinks

Misconceptions, not just mistakes

A child who writes 1/2 + 1/3 = 2/5 doesn't need that problem re-marked β€” they need to understand why denominators matter. MathGaps names the underlying misunderstanding and cites the exact problems that reveal it.

Strengths, front and center

Every analysis starts with what's going well. Kids (and parents) stay motivated when the report reads like a coach, not a red pen.

Guides that teach the idea

Each gap comes with a short guide that explains the correct mental model with a fully worked example β€” written for a parent and child to read together.

Answers you can trust

Every practice answer is re-solved by a separate checker using real computation before you see it. No hallucinated answer keys, and full worked solutions on every problem.

Worksheets with real diagrams

Ask for any material β€” arithmetic to calculus β€” and get a print-ready PDF with genuine diagrams: labeled triangles, number lines, coordinate grids to plot on, fraction models. Not clip art β€” drawn for your exact problems.

A gap map that tracks progress

Scan new work regularly and each child gets a living map of their gaps β€” watch old ones stop appearing and catch new ones early, scan after scan.

Worksheets the AI already made

These are some worksheets our AI has made for you to practice with β€” free, printable, with answer keys and full worked solutions. It builds ones like these for your child's exact gaps.

Questions parents ask

What kind of math does it cover?

Any type of math β€” from early arithmetic through algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. If the student shows written work, MathGaps can analyze it. The more working-out visible in the photo, the better the analysis.

How accurate is it?

The analysis only reports gaps it can point to in the actual work, and every practice answer is independently re-solved with real computation before it reaches you. If the work is all correct, it says so.

What photos work best?

Clear, well-lit photos of pages where the student wrote out their steps β€” homework, quizzes, and tests are ideal. Up to 4 photos per analysis.

What happens to the photos?

Photos are analyzed and discarded β€” we store the resulting report, not the images.

The gap won't close itself

Grab last week's homework, take a photo, and know in a minute exactly what to work on together β€” a full scan is just $3.
